Contract Tips
If you buy or sell real estate, you will encounter quite a bit of legal language in rather complicated contracts. But those documents are intended to help ensure that both the buyer and the seller are treated fairly and are able to communicate clear to each other during the real estate transaction. Contracts are your friend, and the best way to understand them is with the help of a lawyer.
Any attorney can answer questions and help you fill out contracts, but if you are dealing with real estate, it is wise to hire an attorney who specializes in real estate law. You can hire them to help you read over contracts, as well as to help you write your own contracts and then process them at the closing, or the signing of documents when the property is sold.
One of the most valuable ways to get your hands on well-written contracts is to use those that are created by the state where you live, for use by licensed real estate brokers. If you know a real estate agent, they will have these forms and will often be willing to give you blank contracts to study, which you can then copy and use to suit yourself as you buy and sell property.
